Re: Gender roles (split from Japanese/English VAs)

actually, yes, "positive" racism IS also racism. because you're expecting people to fit a mold, rather than simply being people. besides that, you're oversimplifying the asian stereotypes, and ignoring the (many) negative aspects of it. and, asians do complain. but they don't have well kno...

Re: omgwtfbbq

haha. i don't know whether to go "yep, you got me" or deny everything.

i know it's a sleepy little board, but (mein gott) we've been here for the last 13 years, so it's kinda all homey and stuff now.

i've never actually even played a lunar game.

Re: omgwtfbbq

I, for one, welcome our rodent overlords. I guess it makes sense, though. The comic book industry has been hemorrhaging money for years. Disney can make money from releasing hundreds of straight-to-video movies each year. geez. those awful sequels did worse things to my childhood than rule34 ever d...

Re: Nice knowing you, America.

Leftists ignore me generally, I'm just un-American. Rightists, however, think I am the scourge of the nation and should be put to death. Right wing people that lean that far scare me far more than a handful of nutjobs dumping paint on someone's fur coat. my family is heavily conservative. i was rai...

Re: LOOKING FOR GROUP: ABLE MINDS NEEDED FOR GAIA ONLINE ZOMG

Gaia Online is the final circle of hell on the internet where somehow the most uneducated, uninspired, mentally challenged, obsessed-with-anime otaku of the world stumble upon each other and group together in the hopes of recruiting perfectly normal and able-bodied people into their cult to perform...

Re: LOOKING FOR GROUP: ABLE MINDS NEEDED FOR GAIA ONLINE ZOMG

my complicity extends this far: i begged her to play with me when the beta opened.

she waited until i had reached level 9 (out of 10) to get hooked on it. and now suddenly i'm her "henchman" and she's plotting to conquer the mmo.

i deeply apologize.

uh.

i'm not recruiting anyone. i've reached the highest level of the game, and it would take some serious dedication to catch up and help me beat the last boss.

also, i lack jenner's confidence in you guys' competence

Re: Dungeons and Dragons

my group switched to 4.0 when we started a new campaign. i miss 3.5. i play a thief, and the character was effectively nerfed in the new edition. i'm sort of uncertain how to handle her now--just because, if you want to stay true to character, it is literally impossible to have a good thief that is ...

Re: Education and Income. A tragic correlation.

Meg, I'm not sure if I agree that the middle-class can't understand it. It's mostly that the middle-class doesn't want to understand it because so many of us want to associate themselves with the upper-class. Besides, if we admit that the poor may possibly have forces (not literal, but figurative) ...

Re: Education and Income. A tragic correlation.

thats the kind of attitude that holds people back :x also, i'd like to point out that you sound middle class. the middle class no more understands "poor" than they understand "rich." certain kinds of existences need to be experienced. and i don't mean slumming it for a weekend. ...

Re: Education and Income. A tragic correlation.

i agree 100% and would just like to add that success has nothing to do with money its all about who you know and getting your name out there any one who's successful can tell you that making a name for yourself is the most important. this might surprise you, but the "who you know" people ...

So... we should trust every time a Japanese company spells out a name in English? Fine. I'm going to watch Raputa: Castle in the Sky. i dimly recall reading that "Laputa" got in a lot of trouble in spanish speaking countries, because "la puta" means "the whore." i'm pe...

Re: Jenner's Guide to "Getting" Girls.

yes. by all means, stop taking advice from chick flicks. the whole point of the chick flick is that it is utterly improbable. it caters to certain inner fetishes that in a real life situation most of us would run from. kind of like those twilight books girls are supposedly going ga-ga over. "oh...

Re: Focus?

there's never enough time. you pretty much have to make time. you have to draw when you don't feel like drawing, write when your brain is tired--it has to become the release after work. when you sit down to play a game, put the game down and pick up some paper. that's what it boils down to.
