Re: Cool image of Alex training (Toshiyuki Kubooka)

It's a nice one! I sort of remember seeing this in the old Beep! Mega Drive magazines or similar. Alun, maybe you actually have it in your collection somewhere as a result?

Re: Lunar 3: Silver Legacy

I've also attempted to reach out to Kei Shegima, John Truitt, Jenny Stigile, Chad Letts, and Noriyuki Iwadare. Is this just so that they could enjoy it, too? That seems very nice, but just in case it was because they’re perceived as being able to make a new game happen (like that confused individua...

Re: Lunar 3: Silver Legacy

Thanks for sharing! The misguided campaign in question was one where an English-speaking fan was collecting money (!) to place ads online for a campaign to push the ad readers to in turn push Game Arts (!!) to make Lunar 3, and had some interviews from the former American voice actors, which was emb...

Re: Lunar 3: Silver Legacy

There’s good and bad news: While Lunar 3 won’t happen and the shell that remains of Game Arts has neither the budget to make the game nor any interest in the US actors or scriptwriters (we’ve got all our thoughts here already on that other, misguided campaign: http://lunarthreads.com/viewtopic.php?f...

Re: Hi, I bring greetings and maps

No one likes Borgan, but I have a hard time imagining being able to beat the Red Dragon and False Althena, but then being stuck in an unwinnable Ghaleon fight. My 12-year-old-self fought Zophar about 20 times before winning, probably under-leveled, but never struggled on Ghaleon. Maybe it was a spec...

Re: #BringBackLunar

There may be some useful points of differentiation: on one hand, the unknown US voice actors from 20+ year-old translations mean less than nothing to Japanese companies and no new Lunar game would ever be made in response to international interest. Even in the highly unlikely event they were actuall...

Re: #BringBackLunar

It's great to be optimistic, but I think the campaign will misfocus efforts and attention that will not go anywhere, which instead undermines any future more serious attempts. The (good!) US voice actors were local actors, not famous members of the US voice acting industry---which itself is not nati...

Re: #BringBackLunar

Oh, there's nothing wrong with being delighted to see the voice actors or connect with them! While the so-called campaign is a joke and a waste of the voice actors' time, it has accidentally performed the public service of interviewing some of the actors and giving them a chance to reminisce about t...

Re: #BringBackLunar

It looks like the so-called "OfficialLunar" account (which is anything but) is just getting false hopes up, even among the unsuspecting American voice actors they've contacted who have zero influence or connection with the original creators, who themselves are scattered or no longer alive....

Re: Newly translated interview

Interesting that they found it...I thought only Alun would be able to dig up such now-obscure treasures like these old magazines! Reading these interviews again, I’m reminded of how we talked before about how there really wasn’t much of interest there compared to the infinitely more in-depth Lunar I...

Re: Eternal Blue Music on VGMPF

One of the neat things about Quantum's work here is that he's gotten one of the many cool MCD-only tracks (grievously missing from the inferior remake), the Ancient Ruins song from Lionhead, Dragon's Nest, etc., to actually play correctly outside of the game by getting the reverb to work! Longtime E...

Re: Japanese Music Credits?

There is actually a scan off of the booklet on the main site! https://www.lunar-net.com/soundtracks/tssost/p1.jpg Further to Alun's post, I've corrected a few of the staff's given names (often tricky for people to guess, Japanese or non-Japanese), one track title (Honky, not Funky), and added the pa...

Re: Request for Ordered Music List

Nice idea! A lot of us made homemade soundtracks using that great PCM-WAV conversion tool from the 1990s, and about 15 years ago I made my own homemade four-disc soundtracks for SSS, EB, and EB remix, complete with booklets and cover art because I am crazy. I'd always meant to offer them up to Lunar...

Re: Japanese name/reference for Magic Tester?

Say come to think of it... Is this the first Japanese pop-culture reference used in a Lunar game that anyone has found? I think it depends a lot on what you consider a (possibly fourth wall-breaking) "pop culture" reference and what counts as a more general cultural reference or homage, o...

Re: Japanese name/reference for Magic Tester?

WE LOVE THE MAGIC TESTER Thanks for the heads-up, Alun! Yes, the Magic Tester (EN)/Magical Buster Machine (JP) is unmistakably a reference to Kuidaore Taro, the mascot of the postwar Osaka restaurant Kuidaore ("Eat 'til You're Broke!", allegedly a nod to the old saying that people in Kyot...

Pretty sharp! Reminds me that there's only a few notable "paintings within games" that come to mind...naturally, the TSS portrait of Althena from the Goddess Tower, more frequently seen in Alun's profile, is the other!

A Sophia portrait---how classy! Vic used to be pretty active on his Gaijinworks forum and I recall him posting stuff for sale at other spots online in the past, but I think some health stuff has kept him offline for a while. Keep an eye there, I say!

Re: Seeking Eternal Blue Mail-In

Sorry it's been a struggle! If you're looking not as a merchandise collector but as someone who likes the art, you could do worse than to take some of the higher-quality Lunar-Net images and blow them up at Poster Burner or your local office store/FedEx/7-11/depending on your country. The other prim...

!!!

Delightfully, the world may never know whether A) WD wrote in the ABBA references because John Truitt liked them, B) John Truitt came to like ABBA based on the Ghaleon role, or C) John Truitt just happens to be directing this with no particular recollection of the Ghaleon connection.

Re: The Goddess Althena is Risen!

Bubble-burster time: as you’ll recall from Kiz’s excellent J-E Differences section, Luna writes a very personal but not clairvoyant letter in the original, not to Hiero, merely to “you, in the far distant future.” She is aware of Lucia but not of the specific boy...just that he’ll be the one to love...
