Re: Puella Magi Madoka Magica is a good anime.
Honestly, my least favorite part of the ending was that the Incubators are apparently still around doing their thing in a slightly altered capacity. They are the worst.

Re: Happy New Years!
Thinking bagels this week for my bread making. My grandma loves bagels, so I'll freeze some for her.
Edit: Welp. My professional goals are taking off. I take my board certification in occupational therapy tomorrow. I got a job offer contingent on passing this exam. No pressure though.

Re: Coffee Thread
Wow, I forgot that Godot said that. I've put (just a little) salt in my (cold-brew) coffee before. Alton Brown recommends it in his French press. It makes sense. Salt blocks the receptor for bitterness and tends to enhance the natural sweet flavors in food. It makes double sense to put it in iced/co...

Re: Puella Magi Madoka Magica is a good anime.
So is Walpurgisnacht Homura's witch form? Homura talks about how she is trapped in a maze. That would explain why Walpurgisnacht doesn't have a labyrinth. Homura criss-crossing through time is its own labyrinth. And right after Madoka addresses Walpurgisnacht about how she doesn't have to despair an...

I take my coffee black as well, Sonic#. I do drink the frappe sometimes. But let's face it, those are coffee flavored milkshakes.

Coffee Thread
Of course, it was I who started this thread, with my avatar and all. What's everyone's preference in coffee? Starbucks or McDonalds or Dunkin' Donuts or some place local? Standard drip or an espresso drink or French press or pour over or Turkish? I'm asking of course because I'm going to get you all...

Six episodes in. I like it a lot. But the opening sequence makes me feel gross.

Is it on Netflix?
Edit: Oh, it is.

Re: FF VIII (re)visited
But FF IV was my first JRPG, and I'm quite fond of it because I feel it was pretty good (and also nostalgia.) Though, I will seriously go to battle for FF6 being the best of the pre-FMV Final Fantasies and FF9 being the best of the post-FMV Final Fantasies. From my POV, I can agree with that but it...

Re: The Hobbit greelit.
Who cares about canon?? I just want an entertaining movie! They should do it! Wasn't Tom Bombadil a character invented for the bed time stories he read to his children? Or am I getting that confused with the Hobbit?Jenner wrote: JFC, I would watch this if they made this canon and a movie.

Re: The Hobbit greelit.
I'm just posting to say that four years after this thread was originally started, I finally figured out that "greelit" was supposed to be "greenlit" rather than some odd Tolkienesque nonword. I kept trying to read it as some sort of greeting or something, but never read the thre...

Re: The Hobbit greelit.
Have you read the silly theory about how Tom Bombadil is some great evil? He only lets the hobbits pass to kill Sauron so his reign can begin after the elves return to their realm. The person who wrote the theory admits that it's silly. But it kinda makes sense.

Re: Happy New Years!
Happy New Years! Let's see resolutions: Food related 1) Eat out one time a week at most. Corollary: Continue to improve familiarity with pressure cooker to make quick meals. 2) Continue to improve my cooking skills, especially focusing on bread-making and possibly some on pastry (it would be nice to...

Re: The Hobbit greelit.
If they were adding stuff, they should have added a sub-plot with Tom Bombadil. That would have made me happy.
Edit: That would have made me and only me happy. Everyone else would be confused or angry.

FF VII is impossible for me to play anymore. The graphics make me feel really nauseous.

What if I don't really like it except for the nostalgia I feel about it being my first JRPG?Jenner wrote:FF7 is a bad game.

Re: The Hobbit greelit.
The weasel guy was the worst! Every time that he was on screen I was hoping it would be the last. When I was discussing tone, I thought that the inclusion of this character (is he based on a character in the book?) could be seen as an example of the movie attempting to preserve the light tone of the...

Got an immersion blender so that I can make soups and sauces more easily with lower probability of burning myself and a sweater from my mom, Starbucks gift cards from my sister and dad (which bothers me a little because i spent significant thought an...

Re: The Hobbit greelit.
I am ambivalent towards Tolkien. I think he was amazing at creating mythology and world building, but his prose in LotR bogged the book down too much. On the other hand, I loved The Hobbit as a book when I read through it the first time. I don't really think Jackson's vision of The Hobbit meshes wit...

Re: The Hobbit greelit.
Agreed. The new material that was added to pad out the movie was at the best superflous and at worst degraded the source material. I really could have done without all of the material added about the cowardly man from Laketown. Should have been two movies. The last movie ended in a really weird spot...
