All the Lunar Observations
I recently acquired All the Lunar, the hard-to-find disk of desktop apps. I was digging around in the files and discovered some things I'd never seen any mention of before. There are a number of video clips on the disk, which are encoded very cleanly despite having an obnoxiously low frame rate. Mor...

http://m.ign.com/articles/2015/04/27/what-is-going-on-with-the-business-of-konami So... Konami is winding down home game development? Letting its big names walk out? To focus on pachinko parlor fare? Suddenly, the Suikoden pachislot makes more sense...but it's really sad to see another great Japane...

Re: Hacking potential
This is the inverse of the subject of this thread, but I've been trying to come up with ideas for suitable games to base a Lunar-themed graphics hack on. (As if I had the know-how, let alone the time, to make such a thing.) But nonetheless, something just came to me -- Itadaki Street. If Torneko fit...

Re: Least favorite Lunar 1 or Lunar 2 character
Lunar's not the kind of story where people take revenge. But what Borgan did was really horrible , and it's like he's just let off the hook of his own recognizance? I mean, at least toss him in jail somewhere in Vane? I just started imagining a fanfic where Borgan's victims come looking for him, bu...

Re: Trivial question...
Compare the villain of Lunar DS to the lame FF9's Villain and final boss / ending overall... ok we can no longer be friends. <3 FF9 forever. Necron as final boss vs. Gideon as final boss? It's a hard call since I found both disappointing, but I might give that to Gideon since at least he was introd...

^Yes, it was released just after SSH. It's an English translation of Shiegma's first SSS novelization, but this first book is all we ever got.

Re: GungHo/GameArts survey about porting games to PC
And honestly I asked for Eternal Blue Complete to come to PC, because I feel like that would (a) be construed as a vote for SSSC first if it came down to it, and (b) I've got enough versions of SSSC. I'd buy another, but I'm not the perfect customer for a re-re-re-re-rerelease. I asked for the same...

I'm gonna go see Darth Moses. Or Jedi Moses -- he's a protagonist, it seems. But seriously, the casting of this kid moved me from cautiously optimistic to unreservedly optimistic.

Re: Megadrive Fan Mag with Nall on Cover
Alunissage, I found a magazine relevant to your interests:
http://livedoor.blogimg.jp/slime_matome ... 02d9-s.jpg
Megadrive Fan changed its name to Saturn Fan the month after Lunar 2 released, but apparently there was still plenty of Megadrive-related content in there through 1995.

I'd been wondering if this magazine was published long enough to cover EB, and I'm glad to see that it was.

Another great piece of artwork, jay_are. I'd like to move this thread to news, but I don't appear to have that privilege.
Make it happen -- rom hack!!Leo wrote:Rather than it have anything to do with Jian, I'd be a lot more interested in a Gilligan's Island game with the Lunar cast. lol

Re: Megadrive Fan Mag with Nall on Cover
This is a different "novel". Looks like a short story, really, but in Japanese fiction is always a "novel". In translation, the title of the story is "The Snake Ring," and it was written by Takashi Hino, one of original scenario team members. (The other Lunar 1 noveliza...

Is the PCE homebrew scene a thing? Because it sounds like a delight.Temzin wrote:Please anticipate PCE TSS, SFC TSS, etc.
I agree that SSS is not, but Lunar Legend? SSH? Not herculean feats of game development.Leo wrote:SSSC isn't a sloppy remake.

Althena dresses in a blue jacket with brown traveling pants, soft yet durable leather travelling boots, and a sword at her hip. I like this image, particularly the sword. It makes me want to draw a little, but it's been ages since I last drew anything. Adventurer Althena would look rather like Fres...

Tumblr is a great way to get morsels of information related to your interests in a format that just barely grazes your consciousness. I enjoy it, but seriously...I'm lucky if I remember a tenth of what I look at. I probably only remember a quarter of what I reblog.

Re: Hacking potential
(Side note: imagine how much better sales (in Japan) would have been if Lunar had been a PC Engine series instead!) Wow. You're right, TSS could have easily worked on PCE. The series might even have a higher profile today if it was released on that system. Lunar 2 probably would have been very diff...

Re: Hacking potential
To go off on a little tangent here... I have a theory that the influence of Ayano Koshiro contributes to the different look of TSS. She is a graphics designer who worked for the likes of Falcom and Quintet back in the day, and she is credited in two Lunar games, TSS and Walking School. She did monst...
