I thought Blind Guardian was a nerdy band, though, not metal. i enjoy The Bard Song, but am aware of the nerdiness. They've experimented more lately, but their early stuff is VERY Metal. going from what metal to what The Bard Song isn't normal experimentation. That's experimentation on the level of...

Those bands are all Metalcore(Where a lot of the stereotypes about crappy metal come from)..and Hatebreed are a nu-hardcore act. They're not Metal. Please, if you must label things, do it right. I suggest not listening to any of those bands, but to each his own.(even though Shadows Fall has t...

Judas Priest is British Steel, Maiden is too epic to be anything but power metal. The topics typically have to do with battle or war, grandiose gestures and lyrics, and some pretty huge ass songs without any REALLY heavy sounds. Seems like power metal to me. Blind Guardian is power metal though. Ir...

I'm trying to give people a more modern look at what's happened to the genre, like I said, the lines have become blurred, which I actually welcome. I don't feel that the bands are necessarely the best representations of the respective core genres, just the current best product that has come from it...

It's pretty much set in stone what a genre is, and what a band is or isn't... No, genres are fluid as well as the bands that play bands. I can't really prove that genres are fluid as that's fairly abstract, but I can prove that artists are not confined to one single genre. The proof of that latter ...

It's pretty much set in stone what a genre is, and what a band is or isn't... Some people just don't know the difference. It's jsut like how Rock and Metal aren't the same thing like I've heard some peopl say. They say Metal's just revved up Hard Rock. It isn't. Rock is based on 12 bar blues, and Me...

Kurt Cobain did ruin guitar playing. I've never been a CoF fan, but you do have to admit that Nick Barker is a beast on drums, so I enjoy the albums where he had beat duty. If I had to reccomend stuff for traditional black/death metal (since the lines seem to have become so blurred for people now b...

I agree JWL. The idea of people enjoying an execution, regardless of the person is kind of sickening to me. I see Saddam and pity him, knowing what a life he wasted. I really don't have much desire in a public execution. I understand the reasonings behind the executions, and he commited some extrem...
