-The first town, Sealis (shiirisu)-

We begin in the town of Sealis, where the main characters Gien (jian) and Lucia (rushia) live. You can move by just touching the area of town to which you want to go. First, go to the shop called "Gad (gado) Express" to gather information on courier jobs. Here you'll receive a job to deliver a package to the town of Berit (beritto). After taking the request, equip yourself at the weapons shop and set off! With this small job, the adventure begins.

(1st Screen)
Gien's House
Gien's house is in the port town of Sealis. At this point you will go to various places.

(2nd Screen)
(bottom four options read: Inn 1F, Restaurant, Josiah's (hosea) House, Isabella's (izabera) House)
Just touch where you want to go!
Instead of walking around town, now you can just touch where you wish to go! Not just the businesses of Sealis either, but you can visit your friends' houses too.

(3rd Screen)
(top part reads "Gad Express" on the top, then "in the middle of a job" in the middle. At the bottom it reads "Payoff 283")
(the bottom screen says "look for work" on the left and "cease work" on the right)
First, look for work.
Gad's Express is a courier business. At first there is only one job you can select, but as the story progresses this will increase. Incidentally, Gad's Express has several locations across the entire world.

(4th Screen)
Check your equipment!
On the way to deliver packages, you'll encounter monsters. Leave town after fully equipping yourself at the weapon shop. Your status which you can raise with the right equipment is clearly indicated in blue!

The Adventure Begins!!

-Field-
Movement on the field, the backdrop for the adventure, is the same as the system in town. Just by touching the area of the screen to which you want to go, you can easily move there. As forests and dungeons open up, new areas of the screen can be selected. This way, the world of adventure expands.

-Battle-
Start fighting the monsters you encounter in the forests and dungeons! Monsters are divided into two groups: air and land. Air-based monsters can only be defeated by bows and magic, but you can leave after defeating the land-based monsters. That way, you can directly attack. The details are still unclear, but is there even a way to revive monsters?

(1st Screen)
(bottom two options read: Wierd Woods, Sealis)
The presence of other towns and buildings besides Sealis, where the main character is standing, can be seen. First, let's go to the Wierd Woods.

(2nd Screen)
Goddess Statues Across the World!
Goddess Statues are not just in towns, but standing in forests and dungeons as well. Perhaps it's somehow related to Gien's adventure...?

(3rd Screen)
Once monsters see the characters, they will follow. If you can run away, you can avoid battle.

(4th Screen)
By calling out "run away!" into the Nintendo DS, you can run from battle.

(5th Screen)
Rapid-fire kicks, Gien's special skill, strikes monsters!

(6th Screen)
Lucia knows the magic of Althena. Support Gien's attacks.

Development Status: 90 Percent
The story's setting is some 1000 years in the world before the first "Lunar: The Silver Star"! Look for it after two months, we're still advertising for it now!!

-World Setting (the start of the world)-
Long ago, this world was a dead one where not even air existed. The Goddess Althena descended with a dragonmaster and the four dragons she controlled. With the Goddess's magic power, the land was beautifully reborn and life flowed forth. The dragonmaster pledged unending loyalty to the Goddess Althena and, together with the four dragons, swore to protect her.

-Story-
In the thriving port town of Sealis on Caldor Continent are Gien and Lucia, two people making their living as couriers. One day, they receive a job to go to the town of Healritz (hiirurittsu). Their hearts lept at the thought of going to the large city, also known as the City of Beastmen. However, upon reaching the town after an arduous journey, it turned out to be quite different from the utopia they imagined...

-The Main Character and His Friends-
In the world of "Lunar: Genesis", there are two races. Humans, who are adept at using tools but smaller and weaker, and beastmen, who have physical strength and stronger bodies. How do Gien and Lucia, and Gabriel, meet one another?

Caption: The main character, burning with curiousity

A boy who lives in the Port Town Sealis. Due to his burning curiousity, he was already drawn to the thought of an adventure. He was a boy with a warm heart, a strong sense of justice, and a sense of responsibility. However, he has the tendency to rush into things before thinking, but there are things he is very careful about. Also, more than anything, he thinks of Lucia first. He wishes to be a dragonmaster and confronts many obstacles, but with his cheerful nature he overcomes such difficult situations.

The heroine of the story. A bright and cheerful girl, she dislikes opposition. Like a sibling to Gien, she helps as a courier's partner. She may be one year younger than Gien, but at times she guides Gien with much resolve. But her destiny changes on one journey with Gien.

Gabriel Ryan

I like what we have so far. I wonder what that bit about Gabriel "feeling guilty about Gien" means? The courier job sounds interesting, too; it reminds me of Phantasy Star 4, which had that hunter's guild thing, or whatever it was called.

My biggest concern is using the DS's mic to give a "run" command. Will that be the only way to have your party run from battle? Besides that being cheesy as hell, what would you do if you were out and about somewhere, and some kid on their DS suddenly started shouting "RUN AWAY!" at their game?

Oh, and I think it should be noted that we haven't seen any pictures of anime sequences, nor any mention of voice acting. Those seem like the sort of things they'd be blatantly advertising, so I suppose it's safe to assume that they will not be in this Lunar game. :(

Okay, so it seems like they keep speaking about the sega CD version is the world that it is based off of. So what I guess I'm looking for is if it is safe to assume that Lunar Genesis is based off the the sega cd story and not the story from the remakes on the playstation. Just wondering. I was always a bigger fan of the Sega CD versions anyway so that would be great. Not to mention I don't even think GameArts was directly working on the remakes anyway, so I'm glad they will be working on Genesis so we can get a game of equal quality to the Sega CD.

Any thoughts?

Yah, that is cheesy...Think about sitting in a room with 12 other people you don't know in a waiting room...and then, out of nowhere, you yell at your game saying RUN AWAY,RUN AWAY! RUN, YOU STUPID $%#$*!!...
kinda reminds me of Lucia at the end of EB...

RUN AWAY!!

Yes, that is going to be sweet. Now I can embaress myself in a room full of people. I can just imagine trying to whisper it and it doesn't work so you have to scream it and then---yah...that's hilarious.

It's like that scene in Monty Python and the Holy Grail!

Run away! Run away!

I really hope that focus on the Sega CD means they'll use the SCD timeline. Not that it means much being a prequel, but still... And 11 years? It feels like it's been longer. I dislike the umbrella attack intensely, but I suppose there's little hope for it.

From what I understand about development on the DS, it does not have enough memory to do voice recognition (not if you still want room on that cart for a game), so you're probably not going to be saying "Run away!" so much as making any kind of reasonable sound close to the mic so that the characters will trigger and run. I played Warioware Touched on the DS, which has some mic games, and yes, you may have to use some force at the game depending on what it's asking for. The "blowing steam away from the pot" game was really easy to do in a cube at work without scaring anyone. The "scream to scare them away" game was not.

If GA is being kind, perhaps they'll allow for low volumes of speech. And if running away is the only thing that uses the mic, then that's fine, because most of the time the player won't be running from fights.

Thanks for the translation man. I like how they're putting a bit more emphasis on the difference between beast people and humans. At least it seems so what little text we have. In the last games, they just sort of existed and nobody really asked any questions, hehe.

Although I wonder if the Vile Tribe will make an appearance again.

yeah "ARC The Lad" is created by the same poeple that did lunar and there is a hunters guild thing in that game. ythe wroking thing sounds cool, and i hope you will get to see some good video like on lunar SSSC. i don't much about the memory that a card can hold, does anyone think that the card can hold video like in SSSC? just wondering can't wait for it to come out

Um... no, Arc the Lad was not created by the same people that did Lunar. Arc the Lad and all Lunars except the portables were localized by Working Designs, if that's what you mean. But the development teams for each series are nothing of the same.

My only disappointment is the apparent lack of a movement system in the battlefield. To me, that was one of the gameplay mechanics that really distinguished the series.
