Just curious, and Kiz can probably answer this question better than anyone when he gets back, but perhaps UbiSoft was fairly accurate in their translation of Laike as Luc. I'd be interested to know if Laike is an exact translation of the name or if it's like Quark, sounds better, but isn't close to the original name.

It's romanized as "Laeik" in the artbooks. Copy/paste from my character name spreadsheet:
レイク・ボダード Laeik [Bogard] reiku 레이크
(I don't know the pronunciation of the Korean name or whether it's even correct, as I don't remember where I got it from. Probably some very painful searching through the manual.)
Given the katakana, I imagine that "lake" as a pronunciation probably is reasonable. Are there any scenes in which it's said? I happen to have my Japanese Lunar PC movies on my laptop... though the only one I can think of it beling likely is his introduction in the Weird Woods. The animechecks in the SSSC guide would probably tell us.

... um... that doesn't explain much.phyco126 wrote:I've always pronounced it as Laike.
I alternate in between 'Lake' and 'Like'. It depends on how I treat the middle two vowels... but the end is always silent for me. Otherwise it gets inordinately lengthier to say, something not fitting for a man who originally had a short name.

Whoops. ^^; I meant I've always pronounced it at Lake. See what happens to your mind after you play Lunar for too long?! Names get so embedded into your brain that you can't spell their name any differently!Sonic# wrote:... um... that doesn't explain much.phyco126 wrote:I've always pronounced it as Laike.

I'm with most of you as I've always pronounced it "Lake" believing the "i" to be silent, as I would have no clue how to say it if both vowels were pronnounced. (and I know I would butcher that no problem!)
