So much nostalgia...

This board is for general discussion of Lunar. Especially things such as Lunar merchandise, general discussions about the story that span more than one game, etc.

So much nostalgia...

Post by Ardekh »

I don't know why, but out of no where I've been thinking about Lunar after many years of not playing the games or keeping up with the news/remakes.

I revisited an old site that I remember from my childhood, http://www.angelfire.com/ak/RudeTurk/nerd.html . Still makes me laugh. I couldn't believe it's still around. Also, the Shrine to Ghaleon. I remember when all those links WORKED. Oh, and that page with all the sprites... http://rpg-home.lunar-net.com/lunarweb/ ... index.html . I spent so many hours looking at that stuff.

It's been like a decade since I got in to Lunar...I really thought a Lunar 3 would be out by now.

I just got to wondering why things aren't like in the old days when people would make fun little fan sites for whatever they were in to...whether it was a game or Digimon or something like that. Maybe it's just because I don't hang around the net that much anymore, but I feel like that era is kind of over and replaced by a few umbrella sites, like Facebook and Wikis, and people don't really make forums and sites anymore. So, it's just kind of sad.

But on a more related note, I have my old Playstation connected and I just quit one of my jobs, so now I have plenty of time to enjoy some nostalgia.

That's so awesome! I had never seen those fansites before! :D

I know what you mean, in the late 90's it seemed there were endless "mini shrines" and "fan pages" scattered around geocities, angelfire and other hosting sites. You could find multiple pages dedicated to any kind of anime or video game at any given moment lol. The Anime Web Turnpike was one of my favorite sites as a ten year old. Since you mentioned Digimon, I'll admit, I'd often go to that site and be directed towards hundreds of fan sites of the show. I'd sit and browse through them for a good chunk of the day. I loved how there were sites dedicated to even the most random characters. I adored looking up pairing websites too. xD

Good times. =w= <3
You've inspired me to look into some of my favorite links from back in the day, but sadly a lot of them are dead now. xD

Temple O' Trunks The "feature films" section had my sister and I laughing for hours. We especially liked the Titanic spoof. (That should immediately tell you how long ago we visited this site. xD)

http://classic.anipike.com/videogames.html - I'm actually surprised to find a lot of the Lunar links are still live! D:

I do miss the good old days when I was a kid, sitting around browsing shrines and fansites. There were so many of those back in the day. I would spend hours on Sailor Moon sites, lol. Then once I learned about Lunar in about 2000-2001ish, I remember going to so many different Lunar webpages! Sadly, most of them are dead now.

Dragon Tribe and LunarEB were two of my favorites that are now dead. I remember when I posted (http://www.lunarthreads.com/viewtopic.p ... 06&p=48909) when I thought Dragon Tribe was dead because it was down for a few days...now it really IS dead I think. It hasn't been up for many, many months. I still keeping checking it every now and then, but it hasn't been up for about a year now I think. There was also a illustrated fanfiction of Lunar I liked that was on a Geocities website. I really wish I would have saved the stuff from that website so I could still look at it. :(

There were other small sites I liked too, but I lost the links to them when I lost my old, ancient dying computer (and most of the links were probably dead now anyway).

Lunar-Net and Shrine to Ghaleon are the only two Lunar sites left that I would regularly visit. And I can't believe that Lords of Lunar site is still around! I remember that one. XD

I remember the Anime Turnpike too. I think I looked through all the Sailor Moon stuff on there at one point.

The illustrated Lunar comic, that had to be Lunar: Clandestine Destiny, right? Because I loved that fanfic. XD Also, Dragon Tribe had to be the greatest Lunar fan site of all time.

Fortunately, we have the Internet Wayback machine, aka http://www.archive.org/ and you can post the URL of any old website and most likely find all of the pages and images contained within. Give it a try!

I just love old humor fansites. Here's another awesome one just full of Xenogears, Final Fantasy, Lunar references and more. http://bobbincranbud.com/bcpomega.htm So much time and effort into things like this back in the day.

Yup, it was Lunar: Clandestine Destiny. It was one my favorite Lunar fanfics out there.

I loved Dragon Tribe. I used to go to the Oekaki boards all the time. I miss not being able to doodle dragons on there.

Thats what lunar-net looked like only 5 months after I joined. Ah, that does take me back.

Temple o' Trunks was one of my favorite sites back in the day, and also features one of the cutest love stories behind it. Two webmasters of prominent DB sites meeting and eventually getting married? So awesome.

Yeah, I miss the heyday of the fansite.
