GAH! Stupid Viruses! >_>

Post by Amethi »

My computers got a virus.

To be more specific... A TROJAN.

Thats right, my baby's got a Trojan. All because of ONE pop-up.

Anyway, IT'S the main reason I havn't gotten online lately. And until we get this computer wiped out, this will be the last time I GET online. T_T So if you need to conteact me, prepare for a wait. I WILL reply though.

So yeah. Trojans=bad. Pop-ups=bad.

And to top everything off, I just had my WISDOM TEETH yanked out Monday... lucky me. I still look like a freaking chipmonk >_>

Shoot me. Please.

I hope to see you all soon! T_T

Ack! Poor thing... my old computer ended up dying in a simmilar fashon (though it was a worm not a trojan...), but that was back in the days of ME *shudder*. I'm sure some of the more technology-savy posters would be glad to suggest ways to protect your computer from such things... I'm not all that well versed in them. ^^*

See you soon...-ish.

Heh, sorry to hear about the virus thing. Yeah, it sucks, I know. Been there, done that. This is why you (unfortunately) need anti-virus software, a good firewall, anti-spyware, anti-adware, and a few other security softwares. It sucks, because to get good software you have to pay an annual fee, and it's so expensive as they all add up really fast. The free ones totally suck too, they hardley find any of the bad stuff, just reular normal stuff. >_>

Oh, I don't know about that. Ad-aware and Spybot work well for getting rid of spyware. They especially work well if you operate them together. My friend who is a computer science major uses AVG for anti-virus and says it works really well. But yeah, using the Internet has become a much harder thing to do lately.

Well, Ad-aware only found 50 something "spyware" on my computer, and most of it was relatively harmless cookies from well known sites. When I ran Spy-doctor, it detected 70+ spyware, including the 50 something that Ad-aware spotting. Now, the 30 that make up the difference is spyware that is VERY bad, including one particular one that is a keylogger. Yay. Unfortunately, you can only scan with Spy-doctor unless you buy it, and I can't afford to renew my anti-virus, muchless buy Spy-doctor.

Try using Spy-Bot too. It usually picks up what's left over by Ad-Aware.

Spybot was the first anti-spyware I installed on my laptop...Works like charm and effective as hell...^_^

But after reformatting the lap top, i have since been using Ad-aware

Once a mate lent me his C&C Generals CD, he gave me the disc in a different cover, being hasty and impatient, I went to a certain web site to acquire a CD key...God knows what the hell I downloaded...

After downloading the file, I receive pop-ups of advertisements every 30 seconds thus interrupting my school work...

And one of the pop-up said " Felt like you're being watched?" How ironic is that...

Lesson well learned for Faust...>_<

Yeah, never ever go to CD-kay sites. Sure, they may indeed be legit sites that you can get a key from (well, legit but illegal at least) but at the same time they come with a bunch on spyware and usually trojan viruses.
