The Bond film...and the woes it may bring

Well, I've been a Bond fan since I was in single digits of age. IMHO, Sean Connery is the man and will always be Bond, but I've still been able to enjoy all the other incarnations.
But with this new version of Bond, Dan Craige, I must say I am worried for the first time about the continued existence of the franchise. Among many things that make me squeemish about the latest movie, this newest bit of info I read today makes me wonder if I will go see it at all, since I wonder if I will recognize it as a Bond movie.
Casino Royale is of course an original Flemming story, which means its at least got that going for it. However, I read today that the director...in his desire to update and make it "hip" has changed what is a classic Bond motif. Instead of having Bond play Bacerat....now Bond will be playing Texas Hold 'Em.....
Now some people might not see this as a big deal, but to me this seems like more Entertainment conformity in order to simply pull in more viewers. Directors are entitled to their visions, but to cut away a part of a classic franchise to be hip just seems wrong to me.
Gambling may be gambling no matter how you do it, but in the world of Bond, Bacarat had that classy, gentleman feel to it that is James Bond.
Texas Hold 'Em Poker.....just doesn't IMO
In the end, I guess I just have to maybe move this to the list of things that have been bastardized, like classic GI Joe and Transformers, for the sake of being hip to the current culture climates, haha.
