Wow, I wish that I had seen the notice about VAs last month. I totally would've auditioned. *le sigh*

Whoa, early June? Awesome, I can hardly wait. I'm very much looking forward to the next episode. Will Jack and friends escape the coming Xaldharian onslaught, or will they get caught up in the approaching chaos? Well, we'll have to wait and see. Until then...........

Hi all!

An update for all those curious :) Sorry for the disappearance of me... again. But this seems the easiest way, for now, to keep everyone up-to-date.

I spoke to Zophar yesterday and he says he still has sprite ripping to do. School has really slowed down progress for him as he had another flash project for school to do, and he's got exams this coming week I believe. So, that's where things are with the programming/sprite ripping/etc.

Artwise, I'm still plugging away at the Episode 6 cutscene. I have the final lines complete and I'm working on coloring in Photoshop. I'm hoping to work a little tonight at least since I got off work early. Tomorrow will be a big TES art day, as was this past Thursday.

In the voice acting department, I don't believe we need any extras. Unless Zophar comes up with something else then we're all good with that. If you were asked to do lines by myself or Zophar and you've completed them and submitted then you are good to go :)

So, that's where everything stands right now. Zophar I think wanted to wait until we had a really substantial update, but seeing as how we haven't posted since the middle of the month I just wanted to assure everyone that progress is being made even if it's a bit slow at the moment. Please continue to bare with us ^_^b

Unless Zophar has any ammendments to the above that's all for now :)

Take care everyone!

BIG UPDATE WOO HOO!!! xD

Post by PrettyGirlJean »

Hi all!

Well mark this down on the calendar it only took me a couple of weeks rather than months to complete a cutscene! xp Yes, the cutscene for Episode 6 has been officially completed as of a few minutes ago. A good 10-15 hours of work (maybe more) between concept, drawing, inking, coloring and animation. The animation is a tad more complex with this as I've taken it upon myself to animate the mouths. Not just open and close mind you, but actual mouth movements. So again, that's why I'm so happy it didn't take all summer :p

Anyhow, other arts to expect in this episode are more expressions during character dialogue. Originally I had only made 4-5 per character. Alek alone has 12 though. I've completed quite a few more for Jack, he now has 17!

Unfortunately, I can't provide a release date yet. I believe Zophar got a big chunk (if not all) of the sprite ripping done this weekend. We are also still waiting on one voice actor's lines.

Speaking of voice actor's, as some of you may know our original Astaroth voice actor could no longer commit to the project so we opened up auditions briefly and now LNETs very own Bravo29 is our new Astaroth! Thanks again Bravo! ^_^b

As the majority of my part in Episode 6 is done, I can say without a doubt that I will be starting on Episode 7 artwork within the next week or two! Woo hoo!

That's all for now, take care everyone!

Neato! Is there actual dialogue in the cutscene, or is it like in Episode IV, when Jack first saw Astaroth and was at a loss for words? Just wondering, mind you, it would be cool if cutscenes had dialogue, then it would definitely feel like LUNAR. :D Anyway, keep up the great work and I can hardly wait for Episode VI to be released. Until then.

Hey :)

There is actual dialogue in the cutscenes now. There would've been sooner probably if the situation had called for it :) So yeah, you guys get to see a moving talking Alek ^_^b

I'm with you, I can't wait to see it myself. I spoke to Zophie yesterday and he said that he got the lines a lot sooner than he thought from the VA we were waiting on, now he just needs to complete some sprite ripping for Alek and said everything will be all set! :) He has a summer job now so even though school is out there may be some delays in the episodes, even still I'm confident that the episodes will be released quicker than before.

One last piece of good news, the "outline" problem seems to have been solved so we're really happy about that! No more white outlines! :p

Thanks all and take care!

Neato! That is so cool. Will it be like anime stlye, where the character's mouths simply move up and down, or like American animation, where the character's mouth form every syllable. It's fine either way, I know it's more complicated doing it our way, which makes me appreciate early cartoonists. Thanks for the update and I'll eagerly await Episode VI. Should be great, I know it. :D

It will be like american animation where I've animated the syllables... at least to the best of my abilities ^^ I have a few animation books from back when I was going to college for it. I'm learning something new with each cutscene as well. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that I can do very complicated animations (at least as of yet). But I can do mouths and eyes so far. Thanks for asking Bravo :)

Now that we've solved the issue with the outline around the dialogue pictures that's also opened up new animation ideas for me as before I didn't know how to get photoshop files transfered to flash without the background. I found that it was very simple (ironically enough) by saving the character portraits as "save to web" and then as png-24. I never would've guessed to do that in a million years. Now I can import parts of images for the animation in the cutscenes instead of having to replicated the whole image with changes.... I don't know if I'm describing it accurately but basically, it makes my work easier and more efficient ^_^

Episode 7 is going to be a VERY fun episode to work on as another familiar face will be making a cameo, but that's ALL I shall say, no spoilers for you! ;D We'll also be seeing a new party member (finally another female character! xD ). For those of you looking for a little bit of Lunar romance there may just be a hint of it yet as well ^_~ And now I will be quiet xD haha

As always if anyone has suggestions, comments, etc please feel free to let us know! We would like everyones input very much!

Okay, sounds like Episode VII will be very interesting, indeed. I'll definitely ask around to see if anyone I know may be interested in the part of the new heroine.

But now that the release of Episode VI is inevitable, what will become of Episode V? Will be it redone with voices added, or just left as is. If you still need lines for Astaroth, and possibly Zophar [possible, that is], I can supply those for you. I know you said the author is still undecided whether Zophar will be a major character in the series, but from what I can gather from the current series of events, if Astaroth achieves his goal before Jack, you can bet he will be, and it will really suck for Jack, I can tell. Of course, that might not happen at all, depends on the author.

Am I reading too deeply into this? :p Sorry if I am, I haven't been this excited over a project in a long time. Can't wait to see what the future holds for everyone. Until next time....

Actually we already have a voice actor for the new character. LuNaRtIc got the role almost a year ago... i was hoping i would have things in ahead of time but that didn't go as planned... Friggin' delays on episode V and alll.... But ah well, what's happened has happened.

At my table in The Alley, on my laptop :) I'll have it on loop or play it every hour or so. Not sure just yet how that will work.

Totally random and off-topic, but PrettyGirlJean, do you realize today's the two year anniversary of the day you joined Lunar-NET?

You know, if Kizyr agrees as well, I have no problem with also showing the trailer at the Lunar panel. :)

Actually, I've been around LNet far longer, my acct got messed up a long time ago :) But I was more of a lurker then so I guess it would be the 2-yr or when I stopped being a lurker here :p haha

DMLou: That would be really awesome, I know that Zophar would be really excited about that! I was going to try to be in attendence for the panel myself just see what you guys had planned since I think there was one last year but I missed it :(

Yes, you did miss it last time! I remember talking to you about it.

Anyway, I'm gonna take a look at all of this when I get home. But, I think it'd be great to have a 'live debut' of the trailer at Otakon, at the panel. It was packed last year, so I think it'll turn out great. KF

Now that was an intense episode. Winddale practically got demolished, the group found out the truth about Astaroth, as well as Amon. And then were nearly ended there and then, gotta love plot battles. And kudos to Alek for actually surviving an encounter with the Vile Tribe. He didn't get fossilized like Mel did. ^^;; And how, he's personally escorting the group to Vane. How sweet is that.

As I watched the episode, I found two flaws. The first was the actual assault. Yes, there were plenty of dead bodies, but the buildings were all intact, as was the landscape; well, except for the corpses, mind you. If there wasn't means to alter the sprites to show massive structural damage, I can understand. I know you're doing the best you can, so I can't really complain.

The second, I sounded pretty bad. What am I doing wrong? Everyone else sounded so crystal clear. And I thought I'd made such progress since the LUNAR fandub way back. :( Any suggestions would be welcome.

And I can't wait for the trailer to come out. Good luck to both of you.
