Lagunacure

Post by parappa »

So a while ago I was digging through my PS1 import game collection, mostly stuff that I bought from Hit-Japan on eBay in their big "30 games for $30" deal packs, and I have this one RPG that seems particularly obscure.

The cover looks like this:

http://www.gameofjapan.com/popup_image. ... 63phc71fa2

On one spine it says ラグナキュール and on the other it says Lagunacure, so I've been calling it Lagunacure, although NCSX says it's called Lagunacore:

http://www.ncsx.com/www/lagunaco.htm

This is some of the only info that I've been able to find on the web about it.

I don't read Japanese, but I've played the first hour or so of this game, and it's quite fun. The graphics and artwork are quite good, and the combat system is interesting (although difficult to figure out).

If anybody has played this game or knows anything about it, I'd be interested to hear about your experiences. I'm surprised that such a seemingly good RPG has hardly any info on the web about it.

Never heard of it. The problems finding info on it seem to be from a combination of obscurity and lack of agreement on how to romanize the name. For what it's worth, I seemed to get the best results by searching for "Lagnacure" (note the lack of a "u" in "lagna"). Apparently there was a sequel called Lagunacure/Lagunacore/Lagnacure Legend.

This site had a (very basic) description of the plot: http://ks353422.kimsufi.com/databasepsx ... 02833.html

Also, the game apparently got a mention in PSM (this time as "Laguna Cool") along with a screenshot: http://www.unseen64.net/2010/01/10/lagu ... cancelled/

But from all I can tell this is a pretty obscure title.

Ah yes, much better, thanks!

If I had more time on my hands, I'd be up for a translation project. I've always wanted to do one of those.

Interesting! The game can't be THAT obscure... it had 2 releases apparently. The original first, and some sort of Best or reprint?
