Zelda cartoons...

Post by GhaleonOne »

Does anyone remember the Zelda cartoons that played on Friday's on the Super Mario Bros. show back in the late 80s/early 90s? Apparently the made a DVD set for it:

There's also the Super Mario Bros. DVD set, but it was nothing compared to the Zelda ones.

OH! That reminded me of that Captain Nintendo cartoon! I loved how he had the gun and the controller and the various characters that were good and evil. MOTHER BRAIN!! Ha!

I love those shows! I want them!!

Oh yeah! My best friend has a bunch of episodes taped on VHS. The one Zelda episode I remember off the top of my head was the one where Link was sick, and he kept trying to get a kiss from Zelda. I think she finally kissed him at the end but I think it's after he fell asleep ... I dunno, I could be getting episodes mixed up or somethin'... I remember I used to not like Simon Belmont though haha :p

EDIT: I've seen the entire series of Perfect Strangers on DVD or VHS on ebay a couple of times. But I don't remember if they were legal or bootlegs.

I'm sure that will be released eventually. Seems that releasing sitcoms on DVD is a recent trend that continues to drain the cash from my bank account.

I saw the zelda series on DVD and I remember how much I loved it when I was a kid, but seeing it now was like, man these episodes are very...dated. On the plus side though it did have the awesome 8-bit sounds for everything. I wish I could have 8-bit sounds like when I jump or throw things, that would be awesome.

I remember those... good memories there. I have to say the idea that there's also a Mario Bros DVD set out there as well is most awesome, as I enjoied both. ^^

The complete Zelda animated series has been out on dvd for quite a while now. A friend of mine had bought a bootlegged piece of crap compilation off of eBay for me a long time ago, but it was nice to have the actual (although very dated) cartoons.

The Super Mario Bros. Super Show gets better when they incorporate the Koopa Kids and the Super Mario Bros. 3 world.

I liked when Yoshi came along, but I wasn't too fond of the Super Mario World cartoon. It's been a long time since I've seen it, but I think the blonde caveman annoyed me.

That I agree with, the whole caveman thing was odd to say the least. Though having Yoshi think Luigi is his "daddy" was hyseterical.

EXCELLENT! xD

My siblings and I used to watch that show all the time! I think we still have some of the old school VHS copies lying around the house somewhere. Man, I wanna pick this up just for old time's sake. I remember watching the Super Mario show as well. Good times!

I think I have also seen it. I don't remember what I thought about it, though. I was pretty young.

That's awsome. This thread just made my day. Hopefully we'll see Captain N soon.

If you go to http://www.retrojunk.com you can watch the intro.

Hehe, my brother brought the dvd set over when he visited. We first watched an episode that included the live action segment (full with canned laughter, and that goofy "do the Mario" dance thing during the end credits). Watching the show again, it does look dated (hey, it's from the late 80s...it's getting close to two decades ago, and I feel so old at 24 years :\) but I still enjoy it, even if not as much as I did as a kid. I liked how they portrayed Zelda with more strength, rather than just the princess waiting to be saved. Ganon's look was nailed down for that time. ....and Link's sword was kinda pathetic, really. More like a dagger than anything.

Still, good times :) I heard on Wikipedia, I believe, that there are plans for releasing Captain N, too.

I remember watching those when I was just a little kid. I didn't think that they'd start it back up. I remember watching a few of them, but not very many.

Oh that line brings back so many memories...

But yeah, even watching those old Mario cartoons, it's still pretty good. The canned laughter live action bits were cheesy, but they were silly and I liked them. KF
