For the GBA. Now if they'd just hurry up and get to FFVI for a portable machine. Along with Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger. :P

I imagine it's a port of the Wonderswan Color version, which means that just about everything is the same (the gameplay is too well balanced to mess with anyway,) except it has much needed improvements to overworld/map graphics. The WSC version didn't change combat in any way that I could see.

Of course, SE has a established a precedent of releasing ports of the WSC remakes with new bonus material. I hope that have something cool in mind for this one...

That reminds me... I should try to nab Tales of Phantasia for the GBA.

That'll make three versions of the same game I have (Super Famicom, Playstation, and GBA). Now if I got into the rest of the series, my Lunar collection might start to see some competition.

...I already got a few of the novels. KF

The original ff1&2 were great, but imo the GBA version runined the gameplay(MP instead of spells per day and max lvl is 99 instead of 50)
Though i do like the idea of the extra dungeons and such, but i wished they had an original mode in the game so you could play the nes version.

As far as ffiv for a portable... it would be hard for me to play... not that it would be bad, but i like to play my longer games on my consoles since they dont run on batteries...

"New characters with different abilities."

I hope they don't meddle with it too much.

And i'm with G1 in the hoping for portable FFVI and Chrono Trigger (never was hugely into Secret of Mana though).

Personally, I would like Square to get off their remake bandwagon (except for Seiken Densetsu 3 and Final Fantasy III being ported to the US) and start making some NEW games. Preferably, NEW franchises. Wow, the last that happened we got games like Chrono Trigger and Vagrant Story.

While the source's reliablility is less than great, IGN has an article about a 3D version of FFIII for DS that also mentions bringing V and VI to the GBA. Here it is.

If it's real, it is about time! All Squenix has to do is use Snesadvance to convert the Snes file to a GBA format, then tweak it to perfection. Low production cost, leading up to an almost guaranteed profitable cart. Everyone who likes FF will want these, so why hasn't this been done already?!

...on the topic of IGN's trustworthiness, you might enjoy this.

It's not just IGN; GAF had that story something like a week ago.

It was announced in a Square Enix press conference. There's a Famitsu story about it, with pictures, but I can't find it now that it's not on the front page, sorry.

Edit: Aha, I'd linked it in a post on another forum.

Drakengard - 2003 JP/2004 US
Drakengard II - 2005 JP/2006 US

Square Enix is the publisher. There is more than one installment. This looks like a new franchise to me. Playstation2 born and bred.

*Ahem* I stand corrected.

Still, I would like to see more of that.
