Sentimental Lunar

Post by rounin »

I have played Eternal Blue once again yesterday.. It always.. simply always release an amazing emotion within me.. I don't know .. maybe it's Althena's power :] ... Tears flowed from my eyes totally out of my control, when i was watching Luna's projection... Damn game.. Even playing FF VII I haven't experienced something like this.. :]

Some of my biggest shocks (and excitements) came from the movies and pictures depicting SSSC. When the video of all the SSSC played that almost brought a tear to my eye, and a lot of excitement. When Luna played, I felt sadness. And finally when I discovered the three bromids of the SSSC girls, my heart felt warm, yet sad.

I get really sentimental with the Lunar games as well. Especially in SSSC, when Nall's crying at the end...

Hehe, but really I grew up playing the Lunar games, so I feel really attatched to them and the characters, so it doesn't take much for me to start crying in the more emotional parts of the games. Kinda off topic, but I cried a lot in the Kingdom Hearts games as well. I always cry at the endings.

It's mostly EB that gets me all emotional. There're a lot of great moments throughout that just get to you...

(Spoilers, obviously!)

Lucia confronting Althena and Ghaleon, Nall revealing his identity, Jean changing into her karate uniform, Ronfar saving Mauri, Lucia having to turn back from Pentagulia to save Hiro (not in the remake), Lucia being captured by Zophar, and Hiro finally going back to the Blue Star to find Lucia.

All of those get to me in some way {^^}. KF

Sad part for me....

Possible Spoilers ahead!!!!!!!

Lunar SSSC: Very Ending
Where Jessica is Crying I found that very sad (and I always though Jessica was such a beautiful girl)

Lunar 2 EBC:
Where Nall is crying after they have seen "Luna's" Message as an old woman. It was really sad.

I don't think there was a dry eye in the house once Nall joined in on Jessie's crying... I know I did.

Boy, I tell you of all the games I've played, non has ever touched me the way SSSC and EBC has.

Spoilers

When Nall reveiled who he was and then stated how horrible it was to watch his friends died, that made me feel so sorry for him. I mean, you don't see me feeling sorry for Aries or Cloud, or even Barret. But I felt real emotions for Lunar characters.

The Lunar games have touched me like no other game has. I can't think of any other game that I've felt every emotion possible for. I've never loved or hated the characters with a sense that they were real people before playing the Lunars. It's an awesome feeling, becoming attached to a game. And the SSSC parts in EBC hit me with a nice, huge sense of nostalgia. :P

This is the sole reason that Dragon Song was such a disappointment. The game didn't have the player engrossed in the storyline and the characters. The first two games were written extremely well and they played on your emotions. The music was also enchanting which helped to create an atmosphere that sucked you in. I think the original Lunar: The Silver Star did a better job with Luna's capture early in the game, and then the sad piano theme in Burg really hit home. The series is about humans overcoming adversity and finding strength in themselves, which is something we can all relate to. We need that special magic in a new game that isn't some half-assed mockery of what made the games so special to begin with.

And that's why out of all of the RPGs I've played, the Lunar series really sticks out. Although Final Fantasy is a fun series, they will never have a scene like Luna's Boat Song. Tthese games actually have characters that I love or characters that I love to hate.

You know, I was extremly impressed when my friend was playing it while talking to me on the phone, and I could hear Luna singing to heal people in battle. Then when he visited me, he brought the game and showed me the anime videos. That got me, but what REALLY won me over was the Boat Song. After that, I was a fan forever.

Lunar Eternal Blue really kicks me in the throat at some places. There are some really poignant moments in it.

Like....SPOILERS

Lucia leaving at the end of the game always gives me the feeling that I just got punched in the chest.

Likewise Hiro going to the ends of the earth(and beyond) just to be near her, and doesn't even know what to expect there.

Ghaleon's speech after the fight in Vane. Very rarely do so few words move me like his to Dyne did.

I think they should have left in the part from EB where Hiro was frozen by Ghaleon. It was a great moment for Lucia's character. They could have changed it though, so Lucia wouldn't have to choose the Blue Star's energy over Hiro's life. Instead she might have to choose between facing Zophar then and 'wasting' time to save Hiro.

EBC was missing Lucia's song on the Destiny when she sang "When I was alone as one" or whatever the song was called. It was in the Sega CD version but I don't remember seeing it in the remake. One of these days I'm going to have to play through the games again.

Well, if you're referring to Lucia's Theme...

*Possible Spoiler?*

It plays after you beat the epilouge, it was another great song in the Lunar series.

She kinda sang it in the remake. Too bad LunarEb went down, could point you to it. Not sure if it's exactly what you where talking about though.

She sang the first part of it on the Destiny right before you get to Pentagulia.

That link just took me to the main page. I don't see any links to videos under the L:EB header. Maybe I'm just not remembering the scene correctly, and that she only sang a bit of the intro during the Destiny voyage. I remember hearing the song at the end of the game.
