I saw it on the 7th. I loved it, but I VERY MUCH could have done without the unecessary drama.

*SPOILER*

"Elizabeth and Jack" was very stupid and shallow. I hope it doesn't develop into anything during the third movie. Depending on how much emphasis they put on it, it could ruin movie #3 for me.

I guess I'm really confused as to what everyone means by "unneccesary drama"...

The stuff was plot-related, and it um, enriched the interest of the story and the characters...

So I guess I don't understand what everyone's whining about.

I didn't view it as "drama", I viewed it as interesting character/plot stuff.

I mean, for God's sake, it wasn't all THAT heavy of drama. I wouldn't even classify it as "drama" by the way everyone's making it sound. Everyone's making it sound like they threw some gut-wrenching angst tangent in there, which it didn't come off that way AT ALL. It wasn't even that huge of a deal, it was just a plot element, and it didn't really detract at all from the adventurous spirit of the film. Adventure films have always contained a love story with dilemmas of some sort or another.

If you want to see real "drama" go watch Requiem for a Dream or Hamlet.

Well, I was just calling it drama because everyone else was calling it that, and I didn't have a better term.

We're not really complaining that it was overly dramatic, we're just complaing that it wasn't needed and it was poorly done.

"Unecessary love-triangle crap". There.

I was actually agreeing more with the "Unnessicary Love Triangle". I apologize if I wounded whiney (I really hate doing that...) at all. I suppose I was really happy to see Elizabeth and Will reunite and then to have that happen... I don't know I thought she only had feelings for him... it seemed kinda forced at the end there to me. Though I've only seen it once so far I may have missed things in my fan-girl-ish "ZOMG I'm watching Pirates two!! *squee*" mind state. ^^***

I guess I didn't think her character had feelings for him. I thought her move was entirely a coniving act. Though I think she also feels he's a good man at heart and has some gratitude for that and may not be able to find another way to express it, despite the fact that she ends up doing something underhanded.

But in fact, I think she did it BECAUSE she loves Will so much. She was willing to do something completely deceitful and merciless to allow Will and herself to survive.

And actually, I thought it was a nice twist for her character - I like the fact that Elizabeth ends up doing something wrong - and you can tell in the final scene how torn up she is about it.

It made her seem less ingenue and more human, to me.

Hmmm I didn't really look at it that way. Now that you point it out I think I can see where you're comming from, and I do hope you're right. I think my seeing it once in my "fan-girl mode" may not have given me the proper insight. ^^***
Anywho, I did feel better (a bit) that she felt bad about what she did, though I wish she would explain to Will what the heck was going on, granted she has no idea he saw what he saw so she would have no idea he's upset about what he's upset about... so he'd have to say something first... and why do I get the feeling he'll say something at what won't be the most oppertune moment?

Okie... third movie now... please?

I thought the middle of the movie was very necessary, but, damn it lagged.

I saw the movie opening day, and I thought it was very entertaining, though I did look at my watch several times in the middle.

The undead monkey parts are my favorite scenes in that movie, though the whole water wheel fight was very entertaining as was escaping from the island with the cooking Jack bit xD

I've looked at the credits for the third one xD The cast looks interesting. Chow Yun Fat and Keith Richards join the line-up xD

Stay after the film credits to see what ends up happening with the dog btw.

Just saw it tonight, finally, and...

That's exactly how I saw it as well.

Oh and... (spoilers)

Really, I know it was supposed to be a cliffhanger, but there's no way they'd do another Pirates without Johnny Depp, so you can expect he's still alive, or will be brought back to life in some way early in Pirates 3.
