Re: Modding potential on Apple Silicon Macs
Im not sure if its the issue, but does your resolution and new frame rate match the resolution and frame rate of the original sss touch video? The saturn version is finicky about that, and since this shares source code it may be as well. That would explain the video advancing at an odd rate. Id imag...

Re: Decompiling Lunar 2 for PS1
And heres the demo script dump, enjoy. Appears to be a much earlier full version of the script with more cursing.

Re: Decompiling Lunar 2 for PS1
Well, the item text definitely has a lot of differences between the demo and the final version. Anyone who's curious can take a look at the attachment. I'll have to sift through the dialog text next. (Updated to fix an output bug). Sadly, no Bernie’s Pajamas or Dark Scimitar. Maybe the PJ reference ...

Re: Decompiling Lunar 2 for PS1
I went in and manually entered in the gameshark RAM modifications from the other thread and they work to equip and use the item. Then i played around in RAM to see what was going on... It looks like the default stat parameters have the scimitar set up to be no different than an unarmed character. So...

Re: Decompiling Lunar 2 for PS1
Played around with the debugger a bit and i have it in my inventory now. It doesnt seem to be equipable by Hiro. Not sure which character might be able to use it or if its disabled?

Re: Decompiling Lunar 2 for PS1
Ive only decoded the in-game item list on psx so far in order to import it into the saturn, since the order is identical. The saturn just has more empty slots. At some point i should try using the debugger to give it from a chest and see if it actually works. SSS had a bunch of test items that would...

Re: Decompiling Lunar 2 for PS1
Which means we should finally be able to find the Dark Scimitar for real this time. I can tell you its Item #90 (0x5A) I've located the file containing chest information on Saturn (of course it wont be found there though since thats a jp release), haven't tried to figure out the equivalent file on ...

Re: Decompiling Lunar 2 for PS1
It means that they’re attempting to take the game binary and generate equivalent code in a high level language (C in this case).

Re: Playing Through the Saturn Version for the First Time
The version information is stored in the first sector, but you can run this tool (SRP 3.0) to figure out which version you have: https://madroms.satakore.com/ We know there is a version 1.05 (1996-09-30) and a version 2.00 (1996-11-06) It seems as far as packaging goes theres no way to tell, so you ...

Re: Playing Through the Saturn Version for the First Time
It looks like the game in ram got corrupted somehow. The portrait displayed for spells is looked up using an index number, and gets drawn to the vdp buffer, somehow that number was altered if alex is showing up. With the dialog, theres a similar thing. Pictures are indexed by a number and there shou...

Re: Dark Scimitar
Waking up this long-dead thread. Was this ever confirmed in the US PSX edition? While porting the text over to the Saturn, I've decoded the game's item listing and Dark Scimitar is in there. (Its a spare in the saturn of course). Dark Scimitar Very powerful killing attack I haven't tried giving it t...

If you scroll down there should be a 1.1.2f patch on that page. I think that fixed another minor bug.

Re: Saturn translation [in progress!]
Yeah the saves are compatible, the format isnt changed from the original jp. Ms Tea is working on Magic School, Im only focusing on both versions of the first Lunar for now. I dont think anyone has looked at Lunar 2 yet on Saturn.

Re: Saturn translation [in progress!]
That was a bug in an older version of the patch. Make sure you patched with 1.1.2f (yeah i should work on the version numbering...) https://segaxtreme.net/threads/translating-lunar-silver-star-story.20564/page-10 If its still in that version i may have accidentally let it slip back in. As for the lo...

Re: Lunar SSS / SSSC Status & Translator Request?
I sent over the files. The font Misty is using has roughly the same spacing as the PSX font. I think I just need to go in and modify a number or two in the code to get the spacing dead-on. The game is using 16x16 tiled characters and has a built-in variable width font. I have a portion of the script...

Re: Lunar SSS / SSSC Status & Translator Request?
Thanks for volunteering Kizur/Alunissage ! Yeah I was kind of envisioning some sort of translation that's similar to the WD, but has fixes here and there, maybe some additional dialog from the JP that never made it in (if it was meaningful). It sounds like you have a lot of good ideas. It looks like...

Lunar SSS / SSSC Status & Translator Request?
Hey, Long time lurker here, finally registered. So I've been working with Ms. Tea on the Lunar Saturn translation on and off. Her original idea was to extract the iOS text and insert it into the game with re-encoded WD videos. Since we are putting the tools together anyway to insert text, I thought ...
