Re: Victor Ireland- An Attention Wh---?
^The script's in large part identical to the PS1 version and the voice acting compares favorably to other dub jobs these days. This. They got the rights to the WD script and reused a good deal of it while updating what needed updating. Much of it is exactly the same as what Working Designs gave us....

Re: Victor Ireland- An Attention Wh---?
I do think we should be very grateful to Vic and his team for what they provided us. His team went way above and beyond what most localization groups do, and at the time, the quality of localization far surpassed anything out there, especially for JRPGs. I do think that they went a little overboard ...

Re: *Sigh* What happened to GameArts?
Aww that sucks that Kei Shigema disbanded from GameArts and that GameArts has basically been taken over by new people. :( Damn this is exactly like how the original creator of Final Fantasy left Square and made his own studio, Mistwalker. There's a major difference here in that Shigema's group has ...

Re: My review after completing the game
Unless you're suggesting XSeed never had the actual source code and only were able to change the files containing text (and sound, I suppose, for the remixed pieces) rather than actual reprogramming if needed as WD routinely did. I'm sure they could've done that sort of thing, but they also gave us...

Re: My review after completing the game
It's been a while since I heard it, of course, but I know I didn't hear "slightly annoyed"; also, it's not just her voice on which I base that impression but on the script for that entire scene. Oh, I thought we were just talking about the voice, not the script. I'll agree that the scene ...

Re: My review after completing the game
I've still only played a very little of the English game, but have to completely disagree regarding Luna's voice -- to me it's not that its sass fit the character, it grafted sass that wasn't really there onto the character. In so doing, yes, it became obnoxiously generic. Aside from a little naggi...

Re: My review after completing the game
Music was also great. Whereas before I thought SSS's soundtrack was the weakest of the bunch, the re-orchestration of the soundtrack is forcing me to revise my opinion. It's amazing what real instruments can do to improve the sound of something when compared to the PSX's lousy midi chip. It's still...

Re: My first impressions
I have many of the same opinions as you, and I do think (and hope) you'll continue to like the new Ghaleon. In my opinion, he gets better and better as the game progresses. Some of his more infamous scenes are just spectacular in this version, and the dialogue cleanup during the anime cutscene of th...

Re: The reworked cutscene music
Anything on Nico Nico would likely be inconsequential since the Japanese version has the exact same cutscene music as Silver Star Story Complete. Only the North American release has remastered cutscene tracks. Of course, that doesn't really matter any longer considering it's on YouTube now too, righ...

best localizations A question - has anyone else noticed a few irregularities in the translations of this one? It's nothing like typos, but little instances where I feel like something's off. Idioms where they use "minute" instead of "moment," things like that? Otherwise, it's st...

Re: Okay, I finally got around to finishing this game.
I rather liked the adjusted voice, plus I found the background music much more compelling. It just seemed more ... goddessy to me for whatever reason.

Re: SSH vs SSSC Cut-scenes
Yeah, there're a couple of scenes that have sounds effects or music that were added by Working Designs and are consequently absent in the scenes in the newer version, most notably the post-piano music for the trinity of terror (this was actually a reference to The Silver Star), the funky time slow d...

Re: Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth
The differences between the two versions are negligible, though I do miss the original intro . ^.^; Basically, everything's the same except for some cleaned up text and the FMVs. The original only had two (opening and ending), and both were in an anime style. The new one has several, all CG. I total...

Re: Ghaleon has a new move?!
I'm pretty sure it's Blast Loci (plural of locus). It's actually a warning spell that precedes another attack that will instantly kill everyone in the party, though I forget the name of that skill. You need to cast Dragon Guard or Mist Barrier as soon as it crops up.

Re: Which lunar remake is the best?
1) Better writers/script 2) Better voice actors It should be pointed out that this is entirely subjective and that many prefer the SSH version in one or both respects. 3) Larger game (Lunar Silver Star Harmony is much smaller) "Much" is kind of an exaggeration. The only major difference i...

Re: Which lunar remake is the best?
Although I agree with everyone else that The Silver Star has some interesting features and story differences that would ultimately warrant a playthrough if you find that you like the series, I don't know that it's necessarily the best place to get your start nowadays as a newcomer. To be frank, I so...

Re: The reworked cutscene music
Yep. The cutscenes are exactly the same as Silver Star Story in terms of music for Japan's Harmony of Silver Star. Iwadare redid the cutscene music only for the North American release. Still disappointed that it's not up on YouTube yet, though. ;_; I hate having to boot up my PSP for the Reminiscer ...

The NPD Group. They track sales figures much more accurately, but you need a subscription to get their reports. Luckily, there are usually people around who share the info with the general public.
