Re: The events of 500 years before...
Oh cool, a story question! Unfortunately, it doesn't have a clear-cut answer. (Terminology: SSSC = the PlayStation English version; SSS = the original Japanese Saturn/PSX/PC version; TSS = the SegaCD release; SSH = the PSP release) Let's start with the Vane Library. In SSSC, it says: When our world ...

Re: Nall Plush
Those are interesting ideas, thanks! I'll need to think about where I could put them so there's little sunlight (even indirect has faded some of my stuff over the years), but I live in a house where most of the front wall is windows so that complicates things. My best option might actually be a stai...

Re: Nall Plush
Oh, gosh. Well, I started collecting in earnest when I ended up with two Nall plushies, both prizes rather than purchases (although I did buy one later as gift for a friend) -- one was from the EBC haiku contest on the WDMB, the other was from WD's claw machine at E3. (The man before me nearly got i...

Re: Your Lunar 1 Moments
I have to say, that conversation between Ghaleon and Luna kind of squicks me. If you know the story and characters, you know the nature of his interest, but if not...he's an older (much older!) man staring at a teenage girl and smirking, and guessing that she's a new student at the institution he te...

Re: Lunar reference
My husband and I got about halfway through, had to pause for some reason, and completely forgot everything about the game. The only part I can remember is pushing boxes around in warehouses. And this was actually my second try at the game. The first time, I played for several hours before realizing ...

Re: Nall Plush
LOL I honestly thought the person I was bidding against might have been you. Wouldn't be the first time I and another LNet person ended up bidding against each other...though the highest one, which I think also ended at over $1000, I volunteered to drop out. It was for TSS production art and I alre...

Re: Nall Plush
O_O Congratulations. It's a good thing I didn't see this myself or one of us would've ended up paying a whole lot more -- that's the one bit of merch (as opposed to production materials) that I want the most, the UFO catcher Nall. I don't suppose you'd care to trade it for the ESP plush Nall...? =)

Re: The Grindery is better than the Death Star
I don't remember off the top of my head if there's any SSS equivalent to seeing Talon with massive tread marks across it in TSS. Alas, the sun tea. Another aspect of the steam mechanism story element, albeit one that doesn't make a lot of logistical sense, is that in addition to Burg being emptied o...

Re: Nall Plush
Holy cow, Maru. Good to see you! I was actually thinking of you recently, though mainly in the context of "I wonder if her screenname predates Maru the Cat." I occasionally trawl Yahoo Auctions Japan for stuff, although there's precious little LUNAR stuff for me to find other than magazine...

Re: Lunar 2 Japanese dub is SO much better.
Keep in mind that Truitt was originally cast for TSS Ghaleon, who not only has different motivations and character from the remakes but was voiced by a different Japanese actor.

Re: In defense of Lunar: Legend...
Huh, I had no idea that people didn't complain about the lack of range, which was one of the really interesting things about Lunar's gameplay. But I really do think it's OK for the GBA, given that they opted to make the sprites big and detailed so there wouldn't be much room. And they did keep zone ...

Re: Favorite Dialogue (By Category?)
That line of Luna's has always seemed so random to me (and she doesn't speak in that conversation at all in Japanese), but I wonder if it might be intended to refer to the sewer guard who says that that's why he was stationed in the sewers (also a WD addition). He doesn't say that until after she's ...

Re: Endgame Enemy/Area Drops?
Oh, this is interesting. Lunar Legend did call them Ice Dog and Ice Pup, even though most other monster names are closer to the Japanese, e.g., Grandoom instead of, say, Crustac (the poor localizers only had eight characters...I really feel for them). Well, since I clearly do have the information, I...

Re: Endgame Enemy/Area Drops?
Most of this information isn't easy to find. Japanese strategy guides often have more detail than English guides with regards to weaknesses, drops, etc., but that still needs to be transcribed. Yeah, I guess it wouldn't be very obvious that monsters named Ice Mongrel and Ice Pup drop Chiro and Shiro...

Re: Endgame Enemy/Area Drops?
I don't know if any such list has ever been posted, but I have that data. Most drops are common consumables -- Herb, Healing Nut, Star Light, Holy Water, Cleansing Water, Antidote, Angel's Tear -- but here are the drops that aren't any of those. All of these are a 1 in 64 chance except for the Hell ...

Argh, rereading that I sound condescending. I'm sorry. I'm always happy to talk about flags and triggers and the game in general, so if you have any other comments or questions, post away!

Right, but I think that's specifically EB concept art, for the statue in the sanctuary.

Re: Keep Fortune Cane, still get Ice Mace!
Yes, this is the case in all versions of SSS/SSSC. It doesn't matter how much you talk to the Old Hag on Caldor after getting the Sea Chart; the key is talking to her sister twice after Ghaleon announces that he's going to Burg. Good job checking, though!

Re: The Statues/Pictures in the Sanctuary
The Sanctuary is basically laid out like Pentagulia, isn't it? With the statues being where the towers are. I don't think the statues are meant to represent specific people, though, since there are only two designs rather than all four being different. No idea what that symbol is in the middle back ...
