It's not...

Cards can be used in battle, but the battles definately are not card-based.

In fact, the main use for them is in the arena, a multiplayer game.

IT HAS CARD BATTLING!
IT'S BROKEN!
DEFLIED!
THEY'VE KILLED LUNAR AND DESICRATED IT'S CORPSE!!

they're adding too many features, if they try and state every fad they'll fall short of making an impression. They need to not whore hype and just focus on being a good game.

But it's not a card battle game. It's pretty much just a minigame, and the addition of a multiplayer feature is always welcome. I don't see how a card battling feature that you don't even have to use is "raping" the game.

I can give you a comparison for this.

Imagine being told to mow the lawn, that's all you have to do to make your parents/significant other/landlord/lady happy.

But first, you have to go out and you pick up ALL the sticks, EVERY stick.
And then you rake up any trash or loose junk around the lawn.
Then you fill in all the holes and dips in the lawn to even it out and plant new grass.
You water the flowers and trim the hedges.
And by now you're exhausted and you go to bed.

Your landlord/lady/parents/significant other are pissed because you didn't freaking mow the bloody lawn like they asked.

When you focus on a million different things all at once in an effort to make people happy you often neglect what you should really be doing with the project. It final outcome comes out looking sloppy and rehashed with nothing exceptional or memorable; just a whole lot of mediocre.

And yet again, we've yet to see anything in motion, and the story is already gauranteed by both me and Kiz to be as much of a Lunar-story as Lunar 1 and 2. And that's what counts. And again, the cards have little to do with the main battles. They can be used in battle, but from what I gathered, they're used just like items are, not as if they're replacing classic Lunar spells, etc.

Hahahahaaa Jenner. You make me happy.

I don't like the cards either, but since it appears to not play a major role, I'll have fun with it.

Eh. I loathe Card Games of any kind in RPGs unless they are out of the way mini-games that are in no way required to actually enjoy the game, and from what I have seen I won't have a problem with this. It actually even sounds like fun, depending on how it works. I want some screens of it in action! :P

Maybe was the card idea Square's idea? I mean, FF8 had cards....

Card Battling goes back to the earliest days of tabletop gaming--10-15 years at the very least, but likely longer. It's hardly accurate to figure that Square came up with the idea. KF

The cards are totally optional to FF8 and I think 9, though, just a sidegame.

They at least seem to be totally optional in Dragon Song, too.

Card games are fine by me, I never hated them. But yes they don't fit in a lunar game when they would mean the battle system.
They don't, so it's fine by me.
