After so many years of waiting, we finally got it!! Announced today for PS5+PS4, Lunar Remastered Collection; Both SSSC and Eternal Blue in 2025!

I am so happy <3 So very happy. I really needed this today, and it seems to be using the OG dub and everything!

Although its style has changed over time, that nineties style full of textures and details is gone, now there are beautiful quick strokes worthy of a computer-made anime. I don't dislike it but I miss the Sega CD style.
By the way, he also made artwork for the launch of Sega Mini 2.

Kubooka's style has changed a little over time and he's directing more than animating these days (see: Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina, Shangri-La Frontier), but this does look like his style of drawing the characters, moreso than the artwork created for the PSP remake at least.

Right. Kubooka is always credited for the character designs, but they've been drawn by lots of other people.

I noticed that too. We'll have to wait and see how the new cast is, but after all these years I'm personally open to a new voice cast trying their hands at it. Who knows, perhaps they'll do a better job? Also it's a good chance for a translation that sticks closer to the source material. I love the original translation to pieces and wouldn't change it, but the anime fan of 2024 is not the same one as in 1995. I would have killed someone when the games were new for the amount of Japanese language and cultural information I have available to me now.

Whoa so that art is Kubooka? I thought the art looked nice but very different, I thought it was someone new. Man, he could have just drawn in his old style... it's not difficult especially with his expertise.

Im liking the new voices so far!! Sounds a lot like the originals, more than the PSP did. I thought it could be different takes from the same actors looool
