Let's Play - Lunar: Silver Star harmony

Post by Kizyr »

Ok, I finally uploaded the video! After tons of... irritations with YouTube's systems. Anyway, here's the playlist:
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p ... 857134DF3A

Or if you want the individual videos themselves (3 parts, total of about 25 minutes):
1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpmiUJK6giw
2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3_fzjBzrM8
3) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hX3GbjTnTqU

Anyway, this took forever to make... I actually did something like 10 takes (half of them due to stuff shutting down midway, and half due to just not liking the quality of the previous take). I also recorded the audio directly from the PSP, and recorded my voice through a separate input, so hopefully the audio quality is good. The video quality I'm afraid I couldn't get any better. (I should've taken a photo of my setup, with two computers plus my camera on a tripod set up around the PSP, and a few cris-crossed wires).

I'll make a frontpage update later today, and put up links to this, plus Nobi's uncommented gameplay footage. In the meantime, check these out and let me know what you think! KF

lol at 3:15 of the first video.

I like the quality, both visual and audio. It's not easy to get a camera to work with a screen, from what little I've tried, so your retries must've worked well. Thanks!

EDIT: A couple of notes. At the end, when you mention lunar-net.com, it might be better to also include a comment in the video. I don't know how it's done, but I've seen it done before - you can even make the links clickable.

Otherwise, I haven't been able to keep up with the news since the demo well, due to being very busy. So I found it a really good summary, and indeed this was enough that I'll be buying my brother's PSP from him and trying to download the demo, as soon as Thanksgiving. (Perhaps doing a mutual-borrow, since he wants to borrow Chrono Cross during Christmas break. Anyway, off subject.) It will be the first remake I've played since SSSC, since I skipped Legend.

And especially thanks for pointing out the battle animations. It's a little thing, but it looks like the battle system will be charming.

That was the one thing majorly different that happened in this take as opposed to the 9 previous ones. It's one of the reasons I really didn't want to do another take {^^}. KF

About that comment about the earth quake being caused by Ramus... when my friend first showed me the game, I thought he caused it too because he was so fat.

Kizyr, just finished watching your Let's Play vids. They were fantastic, now I'm looking forward to the game so much more! And I was pleasantly surprised w/ the appearance of burg. It looks as if gungho is treating Lunar well.

I finally watched these. Nice job, though of course if I hadn't been able to play the demo myself and make pretty good guesses as to the dialogue, I would have been giving you major grief for skipping all the NPCs. =)

I can't say I'm surprised that the AI would use the starlight on Alex, since you'd been using his Sword Dance. You'd have been either out of MP or only 6 left, right?

I had never bothered to find out that Defend also let you move the characters around, but I did use Tactics a lot in my game to save myself a few button presses and speed things up. I suppose with the gaining a full refill at level-up I might actually start using magic occasionally, but I still rather hope that XSeed takes that out. This game is already using the same stats as SSS, in which the monsters had lower HP and gave more EXP and Silver than in the WD version, giving you two free levels, and providing Arts moves. It really doesn't need any more help.

While I wish Burg and the White Dragon Cave were bigger, especially the latter, they do feel a bit more like a mountain village and a cave this way.

Oh, and when I started the video, I thought "huh, he sounds different from when he and I talked over IM." Then I remembered that in that conversation I was the only one talking because your webcam or something wasn't working. :P So I must've just imagined you sounding different.

BTW, I never mentioned before how much I like Quark (Fidy)'s Japanese voice actor.

I kind of like Quark's look a bit better in SSS compared to this for some reason. He's too shriveled and gross looking, and his tail seems more like a snake. They are similar in appearance, but still different enough that I notice the details.

The vids were awesome Kiz, thanks a lot! I laughed at quite a few of the comments too :D

My husband surprised me this week by telling me that a Japanese co-worker of his is visiting family in Japan and is going to mail the Harmony import to me! O_O I almost died, I was SO happy! I can't read a lot of Japanese, but I think I might be able to read enough to get by. Your vids made me so psyched and now I'm over the moon knowing I'll have the game in my hands soon!
