Apparently a demo is now available on the Japanese PSN. Now if I can just figure out how to access that...

Thanks for the heads up. Downloading. I won't be able to play it until I get home from work (I'm leaving in 5 minutes) so impressions will have to wait until later tonight.

Anyone know how to download it from a US Playstation 3?

Edit... nevermind. I think I found a good tutorial. Time to go get a PSP finally.

I'm pretty sure you just have to create a Japanese account and log in with it to view the Japanese offerings.

Yeah I honestly expected it to be more difficult. I'll download it when I get home from work.

Good tutorial on getting a JP PSN account. Doing it right now actually...

Looking forward to playing. I bet it's the same demo used at TGS

Unfortunately, I don't have a PSP with hacked firmware with me, but if there is anyone who does, please run a dumper and extract all the files from the game. (The download from PSN is one encrypted disk image.) I think it's time for us to learn all this game's secrets. ;)

Oh, come on, DevNall... you already spoiled things once with EBC. It would be nice to find things by actually playing the game.

Yeah it's the TGS demo.

Battles look great, the menu looks great, Quark's sprite work was very well done.

Oh the music sounds really, really good too.

My only gripe right now is the load time between zones. The music cuts off too so it's a very jarring transition. Really hope that's fixed for the final release, because it'll get a bit annoying in Meribia and Vane. For what it's worth, the battle transition is quick.

I wish I hadn't seen this topic...I've been searching the interwebs and I cannot find it anywhere. I don't want to make a Japanese PSN account so I guess I have to wait...

I have heard that if you play the demo you get to unlock special items in the full version of the game by reading your save file.

I hope they do this with the US version.

Am I missing something?

Oh DevNall, I bought the original model. I'm wondering if I should have spend the extra $20 and got the 2000 series model. I can still take it back and exchange I think.

2000 is supposedly the best, I have a 3000 though and I like it a lot.

If you can you probably should get the 2000.

2000 = you can do custom firmware which is awesome. I'm playing on my 23" computer screen thanks to it! XD

Granted, I need to redo the video, I set the settings wrong and it's WAY too big. I'll need to do it in parts. ^^

One thing I can say is that all of the music I've found is re-arranged, including the opening song.

Well, I spent a while reverse engineering software for corporate and academic R&D groups, and occasionally it's fun to look inside a video game and see what you can find. Sometimes, you find pieces of the game that were uncut or unfinished, although they've been unusually good about cleaning up those odds and ends in Lunar. I think I've posted before here about some of the odds and ends I found, including a few unused item icons and an empty character slot in the original MegaCD game. (If anyone has a beta or Japanese demo of one of the older games, I'd be interested to take a look.)

Anyway, back long, long ago, shortly after the Lunar 2 remake came out (in the US), people were discussing rumors of "Bromide X" that no one had yet found, and I decided to take a look; I found it using some off-the shell tools, posted about it, and since then I think I've been on Alun's dragon-diamond-list ; )

But all of that aside, if someone extracts the contents of the demo, maybe we could all listen to the music on our player of choice. (I know I'd like to.)
