Re: Lunar Remastered!
They damn better give this a universal release for Switch or Steam.
Also an expert on the Phantasy Star tetralogy, Ys, Star Ocean, Dirty Pair, and most things Universal Century Gundam

Re: Lunar Remastered!
Against all odds, WE GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man, holy Althena....
I can't believe this.
It sounds re-dubbed too, which I thought was going to be extremely unlikely. (And the redubbed voices sound good to me!)
And for all consoles, unlike Grandia 1+2 which was a very painfully slow process to release for all consoles... and it has pixel perfect graphics instead of filters... even the pixel fonts, which I complained about for the Android port when it released, the message fonts shown in the trailer looks good! Grandia 1 had all those fonts+filter problems in the remaster. It is bizarre that we're back, BUT WE'RE BACK.
I can't believe we're gonna live in a world where I don't ask for these games to return because we're already getting them. WHAT AM I GONNA ASK FOR NOW??????? Maybe Lunar 3 and considering they went with PS1 style, nothing would make me happier than if they went with a style like this if they ever made anything new. We should have never left the PS1 aesthetic, and it seemingly took 24 years to embrace it.

They do! The GungHo twitter page has a trailer that shows Switch, Steam, and even XBOX hahahaZhane Masaki wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 10:54 pm They damn better give this a universal release for Switch or Steam.

Poor Mickey and Kiz have to update Lunar-Net now.
I picture them both coming out of their slumber like Quark...

I have so many mixed feelings about this.

What wasn't improved in the Android version is the music and voice acting. I hope they paid to use PS1 songs and voice acting.
Don't blame me, Lucia promised me lots of snuggles and cuddles if I would be her PR guy.

Re: Lunar Remastered!
For sure there is room for improvement. Foremost on my mind is script touch-up, which there isn't evidence of in the trailer.Alunissage wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 3:18 am I have so many mixed feelings about this.

If this is like the Grandia remaster, I'm not sure they'll improve much beyond graphics. Anyone else notice any changes to UI that may suggest GungHo is doing more work with this release?

Re: Lunar Remastered!
Hah, yeah... Kiz got to it first with the announcement of the game. Came out of the blue for me.
I've wanted to redesign LunarNET for a long time. This has come at a bad time, as I'm extremely busy, but that's been my life for 10 years now. I started a redesign maybe 4 years ago, so hopefully I can finish that for this new release.
Just the fact that the games are getting seen by new eyes with this release should make it worthwhile.Alunissage wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 3:18 am I have so many mixed feelings about this.

And the fact that we're finally seeing EB released again.

My more romantic side thinks about there being 2,000 12 year olds (my age when I played TSS), who will play this for the first time.
800 of them will fall in love with it.
50 of them will form a Discord chat called "The shrine to Althena" and become friends over the next 30 years.
Some of them may even get married and play Lunar music at their wedding.
Then, in 2055, they will reminisce about the days of Lunar when a remake is announced.. as G1 updates the website again, at 75 years old..

Re: Lunar Remastered!
Super excited for this. Looking forward to playing it on my PS5.... BUT!
They're using the PSP dub for L1 which is absolutely dreadful imo. John Truitt is the only Ghaleon. I haven't heard enough for the L2 dub and i believe there is copyright BS on why the originals can't be used....
Either way. It'll be fun to play!

The Android version uses the PSP music, which I think is a vast improvement?Angelalex242 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 5:43 am What wasn't improved in the Android version is the music and voice acting. I hope they paid to use PS1 songs and voice acting.
Is it like the Grandia master? Maybe this has not been revealed so far, but it does not appear to use sprite smoothing like the Grandia HD remaster did.
That said, it does appear like the UI was redesigned; character and item icons are new, the font is updated, and one screenshot showed battle speed options.
I don't think it's the PSP dub, it sounded different.ShugoHanasaki wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 3:54 pm They're using the PSP dub for L1 which is absolutely dreadful imo. John Truitt is the only Ghaleon. Re: Lunar Remastered!
Hah, I had to do math and think about that for a second. I hate getting old!
Also, I rarely play games anymore, but I took a chance on Visions of Mana. Playing one old favorite series while my actual favorite series gets an announcement... in 2024 - is like a 20+ year time warp.

While I was excited to see the remaster, I was even MORE excited to come back to the boards to chat with y'all about it!
Such awesome news. Love my Lunar family! <3

Re: Lunar Remastered!
I had literally three other major things going on at the same time last night and sandwiched a quick update in the middle. So little of my life is reserved for games/entertainment these days it's hard to get that in.
Oh, I've been meaning to also go through and fix where my old name is in places...

Ehhhh. The last version I played was Silver Story Story Touch (android). The Boat Song is BUTCHERED. Wings just as much. Not happy with eitherDevNall wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 5:07 pmThe Android version uses the PSP music, which I think is a vast improvement?Angelalex242 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 5:43 am What wasn't improved in the Android version is the music and voice acting.
